Miami — September 22, 2003— Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl running back, Ricky Williams joins Lea & Roy Black, Cloisters on the Bay, Ltd. and Gary Press, publisher of the South Florida Business Journal in hosting a charity event on October 14th from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Cloisters in Coconut Grove, to raise funds for Bay Point Schools and Williams’ RunRickyRun Foundation.

With an event host committee including NFL legend, Jim Brown; Floyd Raglin and Marco Marciano of Drama Sports; WSVN-7 Sports reporter Mike DiPasquale and a number of South Florida’s elite, guests can expect auction items including autographed memorabilia and luxury items amid hors d’oeuvres and exotic cocktails. Tickets to the invitation only event are $125 per person.

Guided by the belief that a positive environment can save a misguided child, Bay Point Schools is a rehabilitation and learning facility for male juvenile delinquents, since 1995. With the help of generous donations, the school operates like an elite boarding school focusing on four growth areas: academics, athletics, socialization and vocations. The programs are based on positive peer pressure, strict discipline and incentive-based rewards. Bay Point has an overwhelming success as more than 90% of the students have gone on to finish high school and obtain employment in a variety of vocational occupations. Others successfully have obtained college degrees and pursued professional careers.

The RunRickyRun Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All funding is provided through direct contributions from Ricky Williams, individual and corporate contributions, and special fund-raising events. The RunRickyRun Foundation is committed to the overall development of children with an emphasis on improving the quality of life for youth who are less fortunate or at-risk of dropping out of school. The Foundation encourages and rewards academic performance and overall wellness. It seeks to improve the self-esteem, character, and work ethic through various academic and athletic programs. The RunRickyRun Foundation manages charitable and educational activities in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County.
