Michèle van Meeteren joined the Criminal Division of the Firm in 2015. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. van Meeteren worked for five years as an associate at a well-respected Florida law firm handling mostly complex, federal white collar investigations.

BSKS Experience

Ms. van Meeteren is well known to the Firm because before attending law school, she worked for three years as a Paralegal in the Firm’s Criminal Division where she worked extensively on a very complex criminal health care/billing case. She left the Firm to pursue her law degree.

Prior Experience

Ms. van Meeteren earned her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University in 2010. As a Certified Legal Intern during law school, she worked in the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Juvenile Delinquent Division defending minors accused of sexual battery.

After Ms. van Meeteren graduated from law school, she joined a prominent Florida law firm. As an associate there, she represented individuals in public and private corporate internal investigations, as well as individuals who had been accused of or who were under investigation by state or federal authorities for allegations of public corruption, insurance fraud, mortgage fraud and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations. 

Prior to Ms. van Meeteren’s legal career, she worked in the off-shore banking industry in the Caribbean and Europe, where she held positions in the Credit Department, Compliance, and Marketing Department.
