Excerpt from Lesley Abravanel’s Column about The Black’s Annual Gala
A place where you’re bound to see some original de la Rentas is the social-lit Roy and Lea Black annual gala to benefit Bay Point Schools, an exclusive party whose host committee includes a ridiculously A-list roster of folk including Madonna. This year’s event is doubly fabulous, with a cocktail reception, dinner, performance by Jon Secada, and a live and silent auction that will include a spanking new Ferrari at the Coral Gables Country Club. Following that, cars from the ultra-luxe Collection — Maseratis, Ferraris, Aston Martins, you get the picture — will shuttle guests to the Blacks’ home, where an acoustic performance by Matchbox 20’s Adam Gaynor, not to mention celeb appearances by Serena Williams, Sammy Sosa, Lennox Lewis and diva Elaine Lancaster, who will entertain in their own special ways. Tickets are pricey, but worth it, trust us, at $500 apiece. While we hear the event’s nearly sold out, there are some tix left. Call 305-443-8980.
