As predicted the US Olympic swim coach figured Jason Lezak was over the hill and kept him out of the 4 x 100 meter relay final. On the anchor leg France’s Yannick Agnel passed our new fair haired boy Ryan Lochte and took the gold.  It was the reverse of 2008. Agnel’s time was 46.74 and Lochte’s 47.74. In 2008, Lezak swam the anchor leg in 46.06.

“Excellence can be obtained if you care more than others think is wise, risk more than others think is safe, dream more than others think is practical, expect more than others think is possible.”

Very prescient seeing this coming. I would have loved to see what Lezak could have done anchoring that relay. It had to have been better than Lochte’s uninspired effort.

And as every athlete will admit; it doesn’t hurt to have a good day at the right time…..
